Fay Shealy Mills, 94, of Newberry, widow of Floyd S. Mills, died Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.
Born on October 11, 1927, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Clarence A. Shealy, Sr. and Bertha Jones Shealy. She was a graduate of Newberry College Business Program and had worked at Newberry Mills and the S.C. Employment Security Commission. She loved her church, Epting Memorial United Methodist Church where she was in the Bible Study Group. Mrs. Mills was an avid Clemson fan and was a member of IPTAY for 42 years. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and the Newberry Roadrunners.
She was known for cheese straws, fruit cake cookies, pimento cheese sandwiches and fudge.
Mrs. Mills is survived by her son, Floyd S. “Butch” Mills, Jr. (Renn) of Tallahassee, FL; a daughter, Mary K. Bryan of Easley; a brother, Bobby Shealy (Alice Faye) of Prosperity; grandchildren, Floyd S. “Trey” Mills III (Kristen) and Mallorie Costner (Jordan) and seven great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Ralph Bryan, a granddaughter, Whitney Bryan Wilkins, a sister, Irene Shealy and brothers, Troy Shealy, Richard Shealy, and Clarence a. Shealy, Jr.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. William Hightower. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Epting United Methodist Church, 1401 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
