Florence Householder

Florence Kinard Householder, 88, of Ridge Spring died Sunday, December 8, 2013 at home. She was born in Newberry, SC, the daughter of the late Herman J. Kinard and Annie Isabell Metts Kinard. She was married to the late Robert “Bob” S. Householder, Sr. for 56 years.

She was a lifelong member of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church, Prosperity, SC, and a devoted citizen of Ridge Spring serving as Town Clerk and Treasurer for 51 years.  She was an integral part of the Ridge Spring Harvest Festival for 32 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxilary, charter member of both the Green Thumb Garden Club and Saluda County Historical Society, and served on the Saluda County and Ridge Spring Election Commissions.

Mrs. Householder is survived by a son Robert S. (Harriet) Householder, Jr. of Leesville, a daughter Dr. Patty (Bill) Van Wie of Murrells Inlet; grandchildren Melissa (Steve) Senf of Gilbert, Robert Householder III of Columbia, Warren Riggin of Conway, Maegan Riggin of Charleston and Ian Riggin of Murrells Inlet; great grandchildren Alena, Jason ”Max”, Carter and Ayla Rose Senf of Gilbert; sisters Hazel Wicker of Newberry, Dorothy Nell (Cecil) Fulmer of Prosperity; brothers Wayne(Martha) Kinard of Laurens and Ronnie(Jewell) Kinard of Prosperity; sister-in-law Mary Kinard of Ridge Spring, and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by brothers Larry R. Kinard and Herman C. Kinard.

Funeral services will be held  2:00 p.m., Wednesday at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church, Prosperity, SC on December 11, 2013 with burial following in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Barr-Price Funeral Home and Crematorium, Historic Batesburg-Leesville, Chapel from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Green Thumb Club, P.O. Box 425, Ridge Spring, SC 29129 or to Bachman Lutheran Church, 3074 Bachman Chapel Rd., Prosperity, SC 29127.
