Floride Watts McLain, 81, of Prosperity, widow of Geta O. McLain, died December 25, 2014 at White Oak Manor.
Born on December 17, 1933, in Conway, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Calhoun and Mary Sarvis Watts. She was the retired owner of Custom Fashions of Winnsboro and Newberry and was a member of the Blythewood Seventh Day Adventist Church and was an associate member of Wightman United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a son, Geta “Pete” McLain,Jr. and his wife Sandra of Prosperity; a son-in-law, Prosperity Robert “Bobby” Smith of Winnsboro; a sister -in-law, Shelia Watts; grandchildren, Thomas O. (Jeanie) McLain of Conway, Jodie McLain (Dwayne) Smith of Conway, Charles E. Cauley of Medford, MA, Jason B. (Nellie) Cauley of Indian Trail, NC, Jason Robert(Jessica) Smith of Swansee, and Joshua Nolan (Teresa) Smith of Red Bank; step-grandchildren, Arthur (Audra) Guy of Newberry, Todd (Harriet) Guy of Newberry, Missy (Mark) Hipp of Prosperity, and April (Charles) Moore of Kinards; and 18 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a daughter, Denise McLain Smith, a sister, Dolly Watts Garrison, and a brother, Edward Calhoun Watts.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 PM Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Tri-county Hospice, Blythewood Seventh Day Adventist Church, or to Wightman United Methodist Church.
