Floyd Guilbert Beheler, 96, of West Columbia, widow of Nalthea McCullough Beheler, died Saturday, December 15, 2012, at his residence.

Born on July 31, 1916, in Blacksburg SC, he was a son of the late Samuel and Pratt Beheler. He trained as a mechanic in the Civilian Conservation Corps, worked for the US forest Service at Newberry SC, joined SC National Guard 107th Coast Artillery Battallion (AA) battery C at Newberry SC. He was a World War II veteran having served in Mediterranean Theater, rotated stateside and served as instructor at Fort Smith Arkansas after the invasion of Sicily, then served with the 840th Quartermaster Transport Company in Europe. He was retired from the US Forest Service and the South Carolina National Guard, and was a member of Edwards Memorial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, Cayce SC.

He is survived by a son, Dwight Beheler and his wife, Phyllis of Gilbert SC; sisters Mrs. Myrtle Lucas and Mrs Sarah Watson both of Columbia; grandchildren, Melissa Wilbur, Cristal Timm, Tanya Frantzen, and Brian Beheler; great-grandchildren, Dustin Wilbur, Cassie Pour, Leilani Timm. Mr. Beheler was predeceased by a brother, Victor Beheler and a sister, Mrs. Jeanette Spencer.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:30 – 1:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
