Frances Butler

Leila Frances Hamm Butler, 93, of the Bush River Community, Newberry, widow of Jesse D. Butler, died Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

She was born on February 2, 1916, in Silverstreet to the late Rohn A. and Beulah Singley Hamm. Mrs. Butler was a member of St. James Lutheran Church and was a retired registered nurse.

Surviving are a son, William R Butler and his wife, Fern; a brother, Andrew Hamm; sisters, Gertrude Bowers and Sara Reavis; grandchildren, Tammy Lynn Butler and Nancy Ann Goddard; great-grandchildren, Jarred Avery and Haven Celesta Goddard.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2009, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Rodney Gunter. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church, 228 Jalapa Road, Newberry, SC 29108 or the charity of one’s choice.
