Wayne Black

Francis Wayne “Bo” Black passed away peacefully at his residence on Sunday morning, January 12, 2025 surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He was born in Newberry on March 10, 1945 to the late Harold “Monk” and Frances Wood Black. He grew up on the Mollohon mill hill and was very proud of that. He retired from Allied Chemical (Honeywell) in 2001. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He helped with fund raising for the church with barbecues and fish fries. He was an excellent cook.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betsy Floyd Black; sons, Michael Wayne Black and Richard Raymond Black (Melissa); his daughter, Katie Black Hare (Gregg); seven grandchildren, Rachel Black, Della Curcio, Derek Senn, Jacob Black, Dawson Hare, Hunter Black, and Josh Black; two great-grandchildren, Sullivan Curcio and Kate Curcio; a brother, Harold Randall Black (Ann); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Per his request, the family invites friends and relatives to his memorial service at his “building” at 1899 Island Ford Road, Silverstreet on January 18, 2025 at 1:00 PM. It is requested that those attending come in casual attire.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Asbury Hills Camp and Retreat Center, 150 Asbury Drive, Cleveland, SC 29635 or to Samaritan's Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.

The family would like to thank the Bernardo Hospice Group for their care and compassion. They would also like to thank his “angel nurse”, Annette Burden, NP, for her dedication to their family.
