Geneva Harmon Wall, 85, of Newberry, widow of Melton L. Wall, died Monday, May 30, 2011, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.
Born on November 7, 1925, in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Frank Simpson and Barnette Bedenbaugh Harmon. She was retired from the Newberry Electric Co-Op. Mrs. Wall was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU, the Lydia Circle, Young at Heart and taught the Gleaners Sunday School Class. She also was a member of the choir and kept the nursery for many years. She was a member of the Friday Afternoon Card Club.
Mrs. Wall is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Melton L. “Larry” Wall, Jr. and Melanie of Clover; a daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie Gramling and Henry of Gramling; grandchildren, Rhett DeMark, Trey Gramling, Rebecca Gramling, Josh Wall, Tyler Wall and Zach Wall; great-granddaughters, Polly and Kennedy DeMark. She was predeceased by sisters, Doris Hawkins, Lucile Lowe and Nelle Taylor and a brother, Tommy Harmon.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Harmon. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to the Mission Fund of First Baptist Church, 1020 Boundary Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Hawkins, Frank Harmon, Jon Mark Lowe, Tim Taylor, Craig Harmon, Quentin Hawkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Trey Gramling, Josh Wall, Tyler Wall, Zach Wall and Kevin DeMark.
