George Clayton “Pete” Force, Jr., 81, of Newberry, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at his residence.
Born on October 5, 1932, in Newberry, he was a son of the late George Clayton Force, Sr. and Inez Hendrix Force. He was retired from American Fiber and Finishing – Oakland Plant and also the S.C. National Guard. Mr. Force was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, June Taylor Force; a son, Clayton Alan (Christie) Force of Prosperity; a daughter, Lisa Force (Jerry) Vaughn of Newberry; a sister, Betty Livingston of Prosperity; a brother, Vernon D. (Alma) Force of Prosperity; grandchildren, Jay Vaughn, Melissa Vaughn, Rebecca Force, William Force and Kristin Chapman and great-grandchildren, Dakota Senn, Makyia Senn, Masyn Busby and Alysa Vaughn. He was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Hendrix “Snorky” Force.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jimmy Counts and Rev. Ernie Nivens. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 -7:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, 1105 First Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
