Gerald W. Meadows, Sr.

Gerald Wilson Meadows, Sr., 72, of Newberry, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at his residence.

Born on January 25, 1943, in Crab Orchard, WV, he was a son of the late Wilson and Edna Mae Gunter Meadows. He was an Army veteran and retired from General Electric. Mr. Meadows was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Newberry County Democratic Party, a former local union leader for the Central Labor Council and a former president of the GE local union.

He is survived by his wife, Charlene Lester Meadows, a son, Gerald “Gerry” Meadows, Jr. of Roanoke, VA; daughters and their spouses, Andrea Meadows and Arman Cileli of Saratoga Springs, NY, Debbie and Roger Tillotson of Morgantown, WV, Teresa and Gary Ball of Newberry, Karen Lowe of Honaker, VA and Stephanie and David Jacobs of Salem, VA and nine grandchildren. Mr. Meadows was predeceased by a brother, Michael Meadows.

A visitation will be held at 6:00 pm Friday, June 26, 2015 at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 7:00 pm. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Kathy Carr. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Tri County Hospice, 13795 CR Koon Highway, Newberry, SC 29108.
