Gladys Bundrick Hazel, 87, of Newberry, died Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on March 29, 1931, in Little Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Silas O'Neal and Leola Kinard Bundrick. She worked in the Newberry textile mills, the Red & White Grocery Store and LoRex Drugs. Mrs. Hazel was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was a former teacher of Sunday School and the Week Day Church School for many years.
She is survived by her husband of sixty-six years, Clarence Strother Hazel; sons, Clarence Danny (Josh) Hazel of Lake Wales, FL, Michael Dale (Jodie) Hazel of Austin, TX, Timothy Dean (Ellen) Hazel of West Columbia; a daughter, Donna Jean Hazel Turner of Newberry; a sister, Sadie (James B.) Epting of Newberry; grandchildren, Tara Hazel, Travis Hazel, Chris Hazel, Robert Harwood, John Alden Turner, Rachel Turner, Ashley Turner and Jaden Turner and a great-grandson, Logan Hazel. She was predeceased by a son, Ray Gene Hazel and siblings, Nellie Lindsey, Mary Frances Bowers, Lamar Bundrick, Clarence Bundrick and Richard Bundrick.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Church by the Rev. Brent Nichols. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2496 SC Highway 773, Pomaria, SC 29126.
Active pall bearers will be Wayne Craft, Steve Bundrick, Paul Werts, Michael Shinn, Chad Boland, Stanley Shealy, Drew Perry, and Jennings Parker.
