Gladys B. Shealy

Gladys Bedenbaugh Shealy, 81, of Prosperity, widow of Julian L. Shealy, died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at her residence.

Born on January 9, 1934, in Newberry County, she was a daughter of the late Jones Mathias and Rae Smith Bedenbaugh. She was retired form Old School Manufacturing. Mrs. Shealy was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church where she was involved with the Mt. Pilgrim Swingers.

She is survived by a son, J. Michael Shealy of Prosperity; a daughter, Donna Shealy Turner (Eugene) Jacobs of Prosperity; brothers, Bobby Bedenbaugh of Prosperity and Rev. Clyde E. Bedenbaugh of Pembroke Pines, FL; a sister, Doris Shealy of Joanna; three grandchildren, one step-grandchild, six great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Wednesday, April 1,2015, at Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church by the Rev. Bobby Morris. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mt. Active pallbearers will be Russell Bedenbaugh, Paul Jacobs, Brandon Shealy, Nathan Shealy, Phil Shealy and Andy Turner.

Honorary pallbearers will be Helen and Ritchie Koon, Susan and Steve Bishop, Trudy and Ned Brewer, Kathie and Guy Rister, Larry Spotts and George Piersol.
