Grace Westerskov

Grace Eleanor Neal Westerskov, 75, formerly of Newberry, died Friday, June 1, 2012 at Lexington Medical Center.

Born on May 10, 1937, in Los Angeles, CA, she was a daughter of Natalie Olguin Smallwood and the late Frank R. Hawkins. She was a graduate of Compton College and was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church.

She is survived by her mother of Newberry; a daughter, Cindy Hallford of Long Beach, CA; a son, Ray Iwata of Los Angeles, CA; a grandson, Shawn Harkness of Demorest, GA; a great-grandson, Caleb Harkness of Demorest, GA; an aunt, Priscilla Shulman and family of Santa Monica, CA; and a nephew, Heath Neal of Newberry. She was pre-deceased by a brother Gary Neal.

A funeral mass will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at St. Mark's Catholic Church. The family will receive friends following the service. Ms. Westerskov will be cremated and her ashes will be scattered in Hawaii. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsen Street, Columbia, SC 29201 or to the St. Mark's Catholic Church Guild, 928 Boundary Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
