George Grady Leitzsey, 84, of Pomaria, died Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Palmetto Health Richland.
Born on January 2, 1927, in Pomaria, he was the son of the late George Heber and Myrtle Richardson Leitzsey. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Mr. Leitzsey retired from Kendall Company, Oakland Plant and later worked for Green Acres Construction. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Men’s Club, the 55 Plus Group and the Sunday School. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World and the American Legion.
Mr. Leitzsey is survived by his wife, Tillie Cromer Leitzsey; sons, Charles (Susan) Leitzsey and George Earl (Gayle) Leitzsey both of Newberry; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church by the Rev. Marian Dyer and Rev. Jim Williams. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 2442 Mt. Pleasant Road, Pomaria, SC 29126.
Active pallbearers will be Dale Cromer, Rodney Cromer, Fred Cumalander, Carroll Epting, Melvin Epting and Chad Leitzsey.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Men’s Club.
