H. Furman “Cherry” Warren, 92, of Pomaria, died Saturday, November 3, 2012, at White Oak Manor.

Born on November 21, 1919, in Newberry, he was a son of the late George W. and Hattie Padgett Warren. He lived in Newberry until marrying his wife the late Mary Ruth Allen Warren Warren at which time he moved to Pomaria. He was a charter member of College Street Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and usher. He was a World War II veteran having served a four year tour of duty in the Navy. Mr. Warren was retired from Newberry Mills. As a young man he enjoyed very much playing baseball for the West End Mill ball team. He was an avid gardener until he experienced declining health. He loved hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his step-children, Ann W. Smith and husband, John and Richie Warren and wife, Toni; step-grandchildren, Joey Smith and his fiancee, Karen Lindler and her daughter, Megan, Shannon S. Longshore and husband David, David Warren and wife, Traci, Clark Warren and wife, Cindy; step-great-grandchildren, Kenley and Bryson Longshore, Logan and Brock Glover, Katelyn Warren, Colby Harrelson; sisters-in-law, Judy Allen Meetze and husband, Melvin and Betty Allen McEntire and husband, Hanes; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Shirley W. Taylor and a number of great-nieces and nephews.

He was the last of the Warren children having been predeceased by his brothers, Pollard Warren, Jamie Lee Warren, Ray Warren, Roy Warren, Otto Warren and sisters, Lucille Warren and Florence Sligh.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Tuesday, November 6, 2012, at College Street Baptist Church by the Rev. Chad Ashby and Rev. Jimmy Counts. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Springdale Section. The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, 2533 Henry Avenue and will receive friends Monday from 5:30 – 7:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to College Street Baptist Church Special Fund, 3240 College Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be David Warren, Clark Warren, Joey Smith, David Longshore, Charles Dyer, Bryson Longshore and Edward Warren.

Honorary pallbearers will be CNA's, nurses of White Oak Manor and Dr. Michael Bernardo.

The family gives a special thanks to all the staff at White Oak Manor, Dr. Michael Bernardo, Dr. John Thompson and Dr. Thomas Bradberry for their loving care.
