Henry Louis “Hank” Hanmann, Jr. 81, of Newberry, died Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Lexington Medical Center.
Born on July 10, 1937 in Silver Creek, NY, he was a son of the late Henry Louis Hanmann, Sr. and Arlene Winters Hanmann. He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a retired Deputy Director of Operations for Pan American Airways at J.F.K. Airport. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church. He loved sports and was a great basketball player. Hank was a master woodworker, and could build or fix almost anything. He enjoyed refinishing Cane Chairs. One of his favorite things to do was to make special plaques out of retired American flags and give them to any veteran he would meet for appreciation of their service. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Adele “Pat” Hanmann; a son, Jeffery (Andrea) Hanmann of Vancouver, WA; a daughter, Jennifer (James) Moates of Newberry; a sister, Nancy Hornburg of Silver Creek, NY; grandchildren, Brittany (Cody) Aga of Greenwood, Heather (Drake) Hester of Newberry, Stacy Moates of Newberry; Jill Hanmann and Daniel Hanmann both of Vancouver, WA; two great-grandchildren, Noah James Moates and Madison Claire Aga. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Howard Hanmann.
The family would like to thank Dr. Steven Madden for his care and support for the past 11 years.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Faith Lutheran Church. The family will recieve friends following the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 1505 Wilson Road, Newberry, SC 29108 or to Operation Home Front, 1355 Central Parkway S., Ste. 100, San Antonio, TX 78232.
