Harold Brown Folk, 88, of Newberry passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Springfield Place after living as he said “a long and good life.”
Born on September 29, 1936, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Tommy Milton and Helen Brown Folk. He was a 1954 graduate of Newberry High School and a graduate of the American Savings and Loan Institute School at the University of Georgia. He retired as Senior Vice President at BB&T after 42 years in the banking business.
He was a faithful member of Central United Methodist Church since his marriage in 1957, and he was a charter member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Through the years he served on and was chairman of every committee in the church. While he was able he was at Central everyday doing some type of church work.
He was an Eagle Scout as well as a scout master. Harold was an avid Newberry College fan and was president of the Indian Club for many years. He was honored to receive the Newberry College Outstanding Non Alumni Award. He was past president of the Newberry County Development Board Chamber of Commerce when he was awarded the Gov. Carroll Campbell Ambassador of the Year. He served as chairman of the Ruth Pugh Foundation for 27 years. These are just a few of the many organizations that he was involved with over the years.
Harold is survived by a daughter, Carol Folk Foster and husband, Lee; grandchildren, Joseph Harold Foster and Amelia Ruth Foster. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Ann Campbell Folk, an infant son, Sims Campbell Folk and brothers, Tommy M. Folk, Jr. and Williamson Folk.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Central United Methodist Church by the Rev. Joe Long and Rev. Todd Johnson. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.

Active pall bearers will be Steve Satterwhite, John Rucker, Bill Sommerville, Robert Lake, III, Clyde Brown, and Randell Renwick. Honorary pall bearers will be the Fellowship Sunday School Class, the Board members of the Ruth Pugh Foundation, and Phyllis Simms.
