Harriett Connelly

Mrs. Harriett Taylor Connelly, 77, wife of Mitchel J. Connelly of Prosperity, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2023 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Sam Pat and Frances Summer Taylor of Prosperity. Harriett was a retired supervisor with the SC Department of Employment and Workforce, and previously worked as assistant to the Human Resource Director at Kayser Roth Industries in Prosperity and assistant to the Registrar at Newberry College. After retirement from DEW, she served as a substitute teacher in the Newberry County School District for 11 years. She was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church where she was a retired organist, choir director, lector, member of the altar guild, and Sunday School teacher. One of her biggest loves was being at Clemson with her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Wanda (Mark) Crotwell; her son, Michael (Debbie) Connelly, all of Prosperity; grandsons Duncan Crotwell of Cayce, and Braedon Connelly of Prosperity, and granddaughter Mackenzie Crotwell of Prosperity. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Pat Richardson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church by the Reverend Jason Schafer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 AM in the church fellowship hall prior to the service. The family will be at the residence for those wishing to visit. Memorials may be made to the St. Luke's Lutheran Church Music Fund, 4056 St. Luke's Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Active pall bearers will be Duncan Crotwell, Braedon Connelly, DJ Gipson, Tim Connelly, Phil Connelly, and Carlton Hite. Honorary pall bearers will be Barbara Rogers, Wayne and Delores Nichols, Randy and Judy Nobles, Jeffrey Turner, Sharon Turner, and Tim Nichols.
