Helen S. Miller

Helen Schumpert Miller, 93, of Newberry, widow of James L. Miller, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Springfield Place.

Born on March 25, 1931 in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Homer Elisha and Ethel Adams Schumpert. She retired from B.C. Moore’s and was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Miller is survived by daughters, Gayle (Earl) Leitzsey of Newberry and Kay (Jimmy) Standridge of Greenville; a brother, Roy Schumpert of Piedmont; grandchildren, Melissa (J.R.) Charles, Patrick (Kristen) Burch, Brett Burch, Erica (Alex Dermody) Standridge and Ryan (Kaitlyn Perry) Standridge and great-grandchildren; Emily Charles, Jack Charles, and Beckham Standridge.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Susan Burch, a brother, Bill Schumpert and sister, Sadie Elrod.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Bethany Lutheran Church by Deaconess Dr. Laura Sharp-Waites. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be at the church on Sunday from 1:00 – 2:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, 2704 Nance Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Patrick Burch, Brett Burch, Ryan Standridge, J.R. Charles, Alex Dermody, and Jimmy Standridge.
