Helen Rinehart Richardson, 83, of Newberry, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born February 5, 1928, in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Leroy B. Rinehart and Mamie Wesson Rinehart. She was retired from Kendall Company, Oakland Plant after 45 years of dedicated service, a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, and the Roadrunners Travel Club. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.

She is survived by her son; Ronald O. Richardson and his wife Jean of Joanna; a daughter, Dianne R. Crumpton and her husband Ronnie of Newberry; sisters, Betty Pitts of Spartanburg, Raynell Crumpton of Pelion, Clara Clark of Lexington, and Barbara Ann Williamson of Salley; 4 grandchildren, Shana Hammond, Ted Richardson, B.J. Derrick, and Mandy New; great-grandchildren, Kinley, Roman, and Lundon Hammond; Kelsey, Kalen, and Konnor Richardson; Phoebe Grace Derrick; and Aubree, Jody, and Coltan New; a special cousin and friend, Margie Michael. She was pre-deceased by her husband of 53 years, Virgil O. Richardson; a daughter, Tammie Derrick, a granddaughter, Ronda Kay Crumpton; brothers Homer, Billy, L.B., and Derrill Rinehart; and a sister, Shelby Wingard.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family suggests that those desiring may make memorials to the Epworth Children’s Home, P.O. Box 50466, Columbia, 29250.
