Helen Smith

Helen Ruth Smith, 60, of Prosperity, died Sunday, December 6, 2009, at Lexington Extended Care.

Born on July 3, 1949, in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Verner G. and Elvie Huffstetler Smith. She was a member of Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church where she was a member and former president of WELCA.

Surviving are her brothers, Robert L. (Hazel) Smith of Chapin, Floyd G. (Joyce) Smith of Irmo, Steve L. (Sherry) Smith and Davey R. (Becky) Smith both of Prosperity; sisters, Frances S. Shealy of Chapin and Dot Chavis of Gilbert; housemate and best friend, Shirley Herndon of Prosperity; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. Ms. Smith was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn E. Smith and brothers, Verner Wayne Smith, and Harold E. Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church by the Rev. Paul Wollner and Rev. Elford Roof. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church, PO Box 678, Prosperity, SC 29127.
