Henry Koon Aull, Sr., 90, of Pomaria, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at his home.
Born on May 18, 1934, in Pomaria, he was a son of the late Luther David Aull, Sr. and Lucy Mae Koon Aull.
Henry's professional journey began with a distinguished 20-year career in the U.S. Air Force, where he retired with the rank of Tech Sergeant. His military service was characterized by unwavering commitment and exemplary performance for his country. Henry continued to serve the public through his roles with the South Carolina Department of Corrections, as supervisor of security at the V.C. Nuclear Plant and then with the U.S. State Department. Among his notable assignments, Henry had the honor of serving on the security detail for Air Force One during the Nixon presidential era.
Henry’s contributions extended beyond his professional life. He was a proud member of the American Legion. Those who knew Henry will remember him for his humble demeanor and genuine kindness.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Paula Glaze Aull; his children, Sylvia (Darren) Aull-Holcombe of Columbia; Sabrine (John) Amick of Chapin, Henry Koon (Sandra) Aull, Jr. of Pomaria, Stephanie Johnson of Lumberton, NC and Sheila (Tammy White) Aull of Pomaria; sisters, Pearl Kenney of Las Vegas, NV and Peggy Harmon of Ocala, FL; a brother, Luther David Aull, Jr. of Pomaria; grandchildren, Kris (Loraine) Holcombe, Danielle (Austin) Riley, Joshua Holcombe, Ashley (Brad) Detty, Emily Amick, Dillon (Michelle) Amick, Austin Amick, Henry "Trey" (Desi) Aull III, William Aull, Aullden Johnson, Sam Johnson, Cassidy Johnson and twelve great-grandchildren.
Henry was predeceased by sisters, Edith Aull and Gussie Bennett and brothers, Sam Aull, Russell Aull, Claude Aull and Harold Aull.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Chapin Baptist Church by the Rev. Michael Hull. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 2:00 pm until the hour of service.
Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Kris Holcombe, Joshua Holcombe, Dillon Amick, Austin Amick, Henry "Trey" Aull, William Aull, Aullden Johnson, and Sam Johnson.
