Houseal Cleveland “Doc” Richardson, 80, of Newberry, died Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on August 1, 1932, he was the son of the late Cleveland and Veta Mae Wicker Richardson. He served in the US Air Force from 1951-1955, was retired from Allied Chemical and was a member of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church. “Doc” enjoyed playing baseball while in school as well as the with the local mill teams. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed cooking and traveling along with following local college football and baseball.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Loretta Matthews Richardson; sons, Rondall Kyle Richardson of Newberry, Michael Kent (Mary Beth) Richardson of Prosperity, Mark Anthony (Beth) Richardson of Newberry and Dr. Ben Matthew Richardson of Mauldin; grandchildren, Marie Richardson (Brandon) Shealy, Jonathon Ashley Richardson, Tristyn Richardson and Aubrey Lane Richardson; step-grandchildren, Morgan Hawkins and Lana Harrelson; a step-great-granddaughter, Izzy Hawkins and his beloved dog, Sassie Lei.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, November 2, 2012, at Epting Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Fred Buchanan. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Epting Memorial United Methodist Church, 1401 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108 or to the charity of one's choice.
Active pallbearers will be Kyle Richardson, Kent Richardson, Mark Richardson, Matthew Richardson, Ashley Richardson and Brandon Shealy.
Honorary pallbearers will be friends and loved one's and the members of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church and Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church.
