Hubert M. “Hugh” Bedenbaugh, Jr.

Hubert Murchison Bedenbaugh Jr., fondly known to everyone as "Hugh," passed away September 11, 2024 at Jesse Frank Hawkins Nursing Home. 

Hugh was born in Prosperity, S.C. on September 18, 1950 and was the elder son of the late Hubert M. Bedenbaugh, Sr. and Geraldine Riley Bedenbaugh. 

Hugh was a 1968 graduate of Mid-Carolina High and a 1972 graduate of Clemson University with a B.A. in Secondary Education. He was broker in charge at Century 21 in Newberry. He then founded Bedenbaugh and Associates in 1988. He was a licensed real estate appraiser and broker-in-charge until 2012 when he retired. He was also a former member of the Newberry City Council. 

Hugh is survived by his two daughters Jill Pagano (Vince) of Chicago, Illinois, and Becky McGlohorn (Dan) of Pomaria, and grandchildren Sam McGlohorn and Silvie and Vinnie Pagano. He is predeceased by his granddaughter Lilah Julia McGlohorn. He is also survived by his sister Vonnie Bedenbaugh Cockerill (Bruce) of Simpsonville and his brother Gerald Bedenbaugh (Angie) of Pomaria; Nieces Andrea Kubach (Kevin) of Greenville and Julie Clary (Hal) of Pomaria; Nephew Garrett Bedenbaugh (Melanie) of Prosperity; Great-nieces Emma Clary and Lillian Bedenbaugh and Great-nephews Aiden Kubach, Connor Clary, Finley Bedenbaugh, and Hudson Bedenbaugh.  

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 pm Monday, September 23, 2024, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church cemetery fund, 80 Zion Circle, Prosperity, S.C., 29127 or to a charity of one's choice in his memory.
