Mr. Hubert Earl Graham, 94, of Newberry, widower of Mary Ruff Graham, died January 28, 2012.
Born on November 13, 1917 in Pomaria, he was a son of the late Marvin Herbert and Minnie Berley Graham. Mr. Graham was a life-long member of New Hope United Methodist Church and served on many committees over the years. He retired from Coleman Oil Company with over 30 years of service.
Mr. Graham served our country during World War II. He was in The 129 th Medical Combat team and served two tours in the Pacific Campaign. He received many awards including the Philippine Liberation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Award, American Campaign Award, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Award, and the World War II Victory Medal. He never met a stranger. He loved life, family, friends, and enjoyed spending time at the old home place on Second Creek.
He is survived by a brother, Cecil (Annie Laura) Graham of Pomaria; sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae (Robert) Lindler of Pomaria, Mrs. Polly (Freeman) Sharpe of Blythewood, and Mrs. Geneve (Bobby) Morse of Pomaria; and sisters-in-law, Ruby Mae Graham and Mary Graham. He was predeceased by brothers, Raymond Graham and Virgil Graham.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Monday, January 30, 2012 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Suzanne Walker. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church Building Fund, c/o Mr. Robert Davis, 256 Graham Cemetery Road, Pomaria, SC 29126.
Active pall bearers will be Jason Black, Tommy Buzhardt, Derrill Graham, Josh Graham, Kenny Graham, Michael Powell,Jr., Ben Lake, and Jimmy Delk.
