Hugh Auton

Hugh Bachman Auton, 67, of Prosperity, died Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on March 22, 1947, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Houseal Walter and Sarah Mae Hipp Auton. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was a retired electrician. Mr. Auton was a member of Macedonia Lutheran Church, the Newberry Moose Lodge and Lake Murray Abate.

He is survived by daughters, Tammy Auton Kunkle, Heather A. Auton, Nena L. (Brian) Auton, Michelle A. (Jason) Kinard, Sarah E. (Ryan) Auton; a sister, Wanda A. (Charlie) Amick; his twin brother, Henry T. (Phyllis) Auton; grandchildren, Cathryn Kunkle, Ashlyn Kunkle, Brooklyn Walck, Kade Bleichner, Madisen Stroud, Emily Stroud, Gracyn Koon, McKenzie Kinard, Kaylee Kinard and Julianne Kinard and his canine companion, Blue Auton. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Vanna Jeannette Auton and a grandson, John Dalton Derrick

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Macedonia Lutheran Church by the Rev. Randall Derrick and Rev. Wako Cotney. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00- 6:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Auton, 72 State Park Road, Prosperity. Any of his biker brothers wishing to ride along on “Hugh Dogs” last ride are invited to gather at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon by 3:00 pm for the procession.

Honorarary pallbearers will be all of his biker brothers, Randy Aull, Brian Bleichner, Charlie Amick, Bruce Jordan, Wesley Dillashaw, Ross McLeod, Tony Stokes, Mike Oswald, Mark Hipp, Craig Hipp, Phyllis Auton, Curtis Stockman and Oscar and Dolly Corsaut.
