Hugh B. Jones

Hugh Benjamin Jones, 90, of Little Mountain, died Tuesday, August 12, 2014, at his residence.

Born on February 12, 1924 in Columbia, he was a son of the late Bachman McCoy and Sarah Allene Dent Jones. He was a World War II Army Air Force veteran and was retired from U.S. Steel. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist of Columbia.

Mr. Jones is survived by daughters, Penny (Barry) Hamby of Little Mountain, Cheryl (Marshall) Casey of Irmo and Bonnie (Ric) Caponi of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren and a great-grandson. He was predeceased by his wife of 67 years Adelaide Haltiwanger Jones and two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, August 14, 2014, at Main Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Joe Cal Watson. Entombment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00- 1:45 pm Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3225 Sunset Blvd, Suite 100, W. Columbia, SC 29169.

Active pallbearers will be Gus Sylvan III, Kendall Haltiwanger, Dennis Haltiwanger, Art Boyer, Jeremy Lindler and Chad Lindler.

Honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Boyer, Jack Boyer, Robert Wicker and Robert Lindler.

The family would like to thank the staff of Tri-County Hospice for their loving care.
