Hurley Hamm

Hurley Preston Hamm, 86, of Newberry, died Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at White Oak Manor.

Born on July 8, 1923 in Elon, NC, he was a son of the late John Elton and Maude Ann Abernathy Hamm. He was retired from Kendall Company and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Gloria Lamar Rudder Hamm; sons, Jack Hamm of Newberry and Elton Hamm of Laurens; daughters, Barbara McCurtury of Raleigh, NC and Dorkas Hamm of Durham, NC; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church by Rev. Dr. Steven Todd and Rev. Michael Turner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be after the service. Memorials may be made to the Hurley Hamm Memorial Fund, 1724 Main Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
