Imogene Counts Smith, 85, of Peak, died Monday, May 15, 2017, at her residence.

She was born on December 10, 1931 in Peak, SC to the late James O'Neill and Jeanie Eargle Counts. Mrs. Smith was a graduate of Pomaria School and a 1953 graduate of Newberry College. She was a member of the Newberry College Singers for all of her four years, a member of Gamma Sigma and The Women's Council as well as a Newberry College Cheerleader. Mrs. Smith was a lifelong member and organist for Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church in Peak where she also served on various committees and taught Sunday School and the children's music ministries. She also worked along side of her husband at Peak Pharmacy for many years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, H. Joe Smith; two daughters, Donna Jean Fulmer (Johnny) and Mary Jo Dyches (Dal); grandson, Neil Fulmer (Kristy) and granddaughters, Kim Stoudemire (Lee), Mary Margaret Dyches and Joanna Dyches and two great-grandsons, Nathan Fulmer and Landon Stoudemire. She was preceded in death by her brothers, James Wells Counts and Carroll Eargle Counts.

The family will receive friends from 12 Noon – 2:00 pm Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:30 pm with services conducted by the Rev. Beverly Aurand. Burial will be in Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church Cemetery. An extended visitation for family will follow the committal service at the church. Memorials may be made to Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, PO Box 9, Peak, SC 29122.

Active pallbearers will be Phillip Curcio, Mark Counts, Chris Cromer, Bob Ariail, Carroll Pinner, and James Summer.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Peak Coffee Club.
