Iona Smith Frick, 74, of Little Mountain, widow of Pleasant Bennett Frick, died Monday, November 11, 2013, at Palmetto Health Richland.
Born on December 12, 1938, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Heber Leo and Mary Wicker Smith. She was retired from Chapin Elementary School. Mrs. Frick was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Golden Agers. She was a member of the Little Mountain Order of the Eastern Star # 276 and enjoyed doing crafts with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son, Bennett Leo (Rhonda Louann Minick) Frick of Little Mountain; brothers, Earl (Wanda) Smith, Billy (Martha Jane) Smith both of Newberry, Johnny (Janice) Smith of Prosperity, Leroy (Hilda) Smith of Lexington; sisters, Reba Nell Rollins of Newberry, Mary Jane (Dewey) McCarson and Rachael Richardson both of Prosperity, Gertice Rister of Chapin, Fannie Mae (Billy Walker) Walton of Grover; sister-in-law, Bobbie Jewel Smith of Newberry; grandchildren, Christopher (Caitlin) Frick of West Columbia, Charles Frick, Paige Frick and Libby Frick all of Little Mountain; one great-granddaughter, Delaina Frick of West Columbia and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Frick was predeceased by a brother, George Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, November 14, 2013, at St. Peter Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dave Tholstrup. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. John Ferguson, Dr. Phillip Baldwin, Joseph Minick, Dean Minick, Kolby Minick, Joseph Rister, Timothy Fulmer II, Robert Richardson, Berley Rister, Jr., John Awtry and members of the Little Mountain Order of the Easter Star.
