Irby Longshore

Irby Lee Longshore, Jr., 71, of Newberry, died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on December 16, 1937 in Newberry, he was a son of the late Irby Lee Longshore, Sr. and Mary Bouknight Longshore. Mr. Longshore was an Air Force veteran, was retired from the City of Newberry Park and Recreation and was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Hendrix Longshore; a son, Joseph Alan (Lori) Longshore of Prosperity; a daughter, Terri Lee Longshore of Newberry; grandchildren, Blake Longshore, Carlee Longshore and Elijah Longshore.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Michael Turner and Rev. Ada Charles. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
