Vernie Irene Harmon Ellisor, 85, of Newberry, died Monday, May 4, 2009 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on April 4, 1924 in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Rembert Dupree and Lillie Mack Harmon. She was retired from Old School Manufacturing. Mrs. Ellisor was a member of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Church Council, the Epteens, the Mary Addison Circle and the Erin Wood Sunday School Class.
Mrs. Ellisor was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished her family and her love of life was spending time with her family. She enjoyed doing her yard work, keeping her home immaculate, reading her Bible and writing in her journal daily.
Surviving are her husband of 66 years, Talmadge Ellisor; her children and their spouses, Glenda Gales and John Ferris of Manning, Karen and Gary Dymond of Alcolu and Wayne and Mary Ellisor of Pomaria; sisters and their spouses, Irma and Jim Perry and Claudia Clary of Newberry, Margaret and Richard Hendrix and Denise and Dickie Cates of Prosperity; grandchildren, Thomas Gales, Lisa G. and Matt DeWitt, Christopher and Avril Dymond, Kayla Dymond, Brittany Ellisor, Ashley Ellisor, Miranda Albert and Amy Collins; great-grandchildren, Buddy Gales, Brooke Gales, Blake Norton, Skylar Dymond, Kimberly Albert and Taylor Swain; sisters-in-law, Betty H. Harmon, Bunice H. Townsend and Olivia E. Snipes. Mrs. Ellisor was predeceased by brothers, Billy Gerald Harmon and Jimmy Lee Harmon
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at Epting Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Inman. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Epteens of Epting Memorial United Methodist Church, 1401 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
