Isadore Spells, 86, of Newberry, died Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on August 21, 1927, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Elmore Sphell and Lottie Workman. He was retired from Kendall Company, Oakland Plant and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Spells was known as the “Bicycle Man on Main Street.”

He is survived by his wife, Nancy F. Spells; sons, Robert Spells of Pomaria, Brad Bright of Newberry; daughter, Barbara Goins of Newberry; step-son, Steve O'Donald II of Union; step-daughter, Renea Fowler of Newberry; grandchildren, Chris Spells, Kevin Spells, Jessica Harris, Ethan Bright, Dylan Bright, Jose Jimenez, Sabrina Hamilton, Marleina Kingsmore, Brandon O'Donald and Kylee O'Donald and thirteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Spells was predeceased by his first wife, Alverta Moates Bright and sisters, Ruby Leopard and one infant sister and also a great-granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm Tuesday, September 10, 2013, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in West End Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00- 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Newberry Lions Club, 1724 Main Street, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Chris Spells, Kevin Spells, Perry Livingston, Josh Kingsmore, J.P. Livingston and Nathan Hamilton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jake Livingston and the staff of White Oak Manor Unit 1.
