James Carol Fulmer, 80, of Newberry, died Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on October 12, 1935, in Newberry, he was a son of the late James Wright and Mertie Mae Mills Fulmer. He was retired from American Fiber and Finishing Company. Mr. Fulmer was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he was involved with the Adult Men's Sunday School Class, the choir, the disaster relief and was a former deacon. He loved to hunt and fish.
He is survived by his wife, Lidie Mae McCarson Fulmer; a son, James Eddie (Judy D.) Fulmer; a daughter, Nancy F. (Robert) Tyler; brothers, David Eugene Fulmer and Joseph Roy Fulmer; six grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Mr. Fulmer was predeceased by brothers, Colie Marvin Fulmer and Herman Odell Fulmer.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, February 26, 2016, at Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Scott Kierstead and Dr. Oscar Lovelace. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church Friday from 1:00 -2:30 pm. Memorials may be made to Bethel Baptist Church Disaster Relief, 2503 Bethel Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Active pallbearers will be Chris Cayton, Daniel Cayton, Eric Cayton, Odell Fulmer, Carl Fulmer, and Michael Tyler.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Bethel Baptist Church, members of the Men's Sunday School Class, Amedisys Home Health Care Staff, Dr. Oscar Lovelace and Nancy Gause.
