J. Carol Wessinger

Jonas Carol Wessinger, 81, of Newberry, died Monday, February 22, 2016, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA.

Born on March 21, 1934, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Jonas Levi and Essie Taylor Wessinger. He served in the S.C. National Guard and was retired from the CSX Railroad. He was a member of The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer.

Mr. Wessinger is survived by a son, Dr. John Mark Wessinger; a daughter, Ginger Ellen Wessinger; his fiancee, Sylvia Metts Williams; grandchildren, Laura Ann Slusarchyk, Robert Slusarchyk, Lindler Reice Wessinger, Lydian Haze Wessinger and Madeline Casteel.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer by the Rev. Matthew Titus. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 12:30 – 1:30 pm in the St. John's Room.
