J. Everett Kinard

James Everett Kinard, 91, of Newberry, died Friday, May 4, 2018, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

He was born on October 11, 1926, in Newberry, he was the son of the late James Tommie and Myrtle Adams Kinard. He was a graduate of Newberry High School and Newberry College in 1949. He was retired as an E-7 from the U.S. Navy having enlisted in 1944 and retiring in 1975 during which time he had served in World War II and the Vietnam-Korean Conflict. Mr. Kinard was a member of the Fleet Reserve. He was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sadie Wood Kinard; a son, Bruce M. Kinard of Summerville; daughters, Jane K. (David) Carlough of Charleston and Karen K. (Carl) Mills of Cross; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. Jimmy Counts. Visitation will be Saturday from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, 1105 First Street, Newberry, SC 29108 or to the Autism Society, 806 12 ^th Street, West Columbia, SC 29169.
