J. Luie Metts

John Luie Metts, 92, of Newberry, widower of Sudie Mae Kibler Metts, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at White Oak Manor.

Born on June 16, 1919, in Little Mountain, he was a son of the late Paul and Carrie Amick Metts. He was a retired farmer and had worked for Senior Catering and was a member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church. He was an Army veteran.

Mr. Metts is survived by sons, Charles Steven (Diane) Metts of Newberry and James Timothy (Kathy) Metts of Little Mountain; a brother, Roy Metts of Allendale; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Cecil Metts and a grandson, Daniel Steven Metts.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 16, 2012, at St. Philip's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00- 5:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Hospice, 1501 Blanding Street, Columbia, SC 29201.

Active pallbearers will be Phil Frick, Don Kunkle, David Lominick, John Wheeler, Harry Wicker, Larry Wicker.
