Marshall Jackson “Jack” Sweezy, 79, of Prosperity, died Saturday, November 8, 2014, at his residence.
Born on July 3, 1935 in Tamassee, SC, he was a son of the late Jesse and Maudine Mcall Sweezy. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Bethel Baptist Church, a member of Pomaria Masonic Lodge #151 AFM and the Jamil Shrine Temple.
Jack is survived by his wife, Eleanor Lanning Sweezy; daughters, Cindy (Bennie) Dicks of Aiken and Beverly (Jimmy) Martin of Prosperity and a son, Jennings (Belinda) Parker of Little Mountain; a brother, Jess (Buttons) Sweezy of Saluda, NC; grandchildren, Amy (Chad) Hankinson, Bennie Dicks II, Helen (Justin) Howe, Jamie (Jeanna) Martin, Heather (Michael) Livingston, Kasey Cushman, Joshua Parker and Zachary Parker and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Gene Sweezy and a great-grandson, Noah Howe.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 11, 2014, at Bethel Baptist Church by the Rev. Scott Kierstead and Rev. Ray Ridgeway. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of Tri-County, 13795 C.R. Koon Highway, Newberry, SC 29108 or Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund, 2503 Bethel Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Pallbearers will be the active Deacons of Bethel Baptist Church.
Honorary pallbearers will be the inactive Deacons of Bethel Baptist Church.
