James Thurston Palmer, P.E. 63, of Chapin, died November 7, 2012, at Lexington Medical Center.
Born on June 9, 1949, in Flint, MI, he was the son of Robert Ralph Palmer and the late Alice Thurston Palmer. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict. He was a graduate of the University of Wyoming, worked for S&M.E., Inc and was a member of A.S.C.E.
He is survived in addition to his father of Chapin by his wife, Marilyn Linder Palmer; sons, Robert J. (Andrea Hoertrich) Palmer of Alexandria, VA and Michael W. (Meghan Luttrell) Palmer of Rutledge, TN; a daughter, Andrea M. Palmer of Chapin; a sister, Susan Palmer Spencer of Chapin, grandchildren, Lexi Palmer and Fletcher Palmer and nieces and nephews.
Private memorial services will be held at a later time. Memorials may be made to the SC Special Olympics, 1276 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
