James Point, Sr.

James Franklin Point, Sr., 59, of Columbia, died Monday, December 24, 2012, at Palmetto Health Richland.

Born on November 11, 1953, in Lima, OH, he was a son of Janice Loraine Arnold Point and the late John H. Point. He was a US Marine Corps Veteran and a former member of Lewis United Methodist Church. Mr. Point enjoyed sports and woodworking.

He is survived in addition to his mother by a son, James Franklin “Jimmy” Point, Jr. of Pomaria; daughters, Allie Compton of Prosperity and Aminee Marissa Point of Newberry; sisters, Pam Aschbrenner, Vicki Trotter and Sue Day; a brother Dave Point; grandchildren, Landon and Kiley Compton. Mr. Point was predeceased by a granddaughter, Riley Compton.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013, at 2:00 pm at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to Palmetto Health Hospice, 1400 Pickens Street, Suite 100, Columbia, South Carolina 29201.
