James Robert “Bo” Hamm, 83, of Prosperity, died Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at Palmetto Health Richland.

Born on August 13, 1933, in Newberry County, he was the son of the late J.D. And Brunelle Bowers Hamm. He was proud of his perfect attendance record for all twelve years of his public school education. Bo served in the S.C. National Guard from which he retired after 20 years and also was retired from the S.C Department of Natural Resources as a Game Warden. He was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church where he served on the Cemetery Committee. He was a member of the S.C. Law Enforcement Officers Association and the S.C. Wildlife Law Enforcement Officers Association and was involved with numerous other organizations during his lifetime. He loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing and from his many excursions formed numerous close friendships. Bo was a kind, loving and caring man who always greeted you with a smile and a warm handshake.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Hunter Hamm; sons, Craig Hamm of Prosperity and Jay (Carolyn) Hamm of Columbia; grandchildren, Chase Hamm, Cade Hamm, Cassidy Hamm, Bethany Hamm, Reagan Hamm and Charlie Hamm. He was predeceased by a sister, Jackie Franklin.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, May 5, 2017, at Zion United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Taylor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 80 Zion Circle, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Active pallbearers will be Mike Franklin, Dave Franklin, Brandon Franklin, Timothy Franklin, Dean Wise, Brett Bannister, Donnie Bobb,and Benji Vaughn.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Bill & Fran's Breakfast Club, the Prosperity Drug Store Coffee Club and all active and retired law enforcement.
