James Travis Moore, 85, of Newberry, husband of Marlene Derrick Moore, died Thursday, September 1, 2011, at the home.
Born January 4, 1926, in Newberry County, he was a son of the late James Boyce and Ethel Sligh Moore. Mr. Moore attended Newberry County Schools and was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer.
Mr. Moore was a member of Silverstreet Lutheran Church of Silverstreet, SC.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are two sons and three daughters, Danny (June) Moore of Newberrry, Kathie (Bob) Moore of Greenwood, Kim (Cindy) Moore, Joyce (David) Myers and Darlene Moore of Newberry; a sister, Jean Bundrick of Newberry; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, September 4, 2011 at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Harry Crout. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Sammy Taylor, Larry Wicker, Mike Cromer, Boyce Goodman, Jimmy Moore and Donald Bundrick.
Honorary escorts will be the Lutheran Men of Missions.
The family will be at the home of Danny and June Moore, 2085 Spearman Road, Newberry, and will receive friends at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Saturday from 6:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m.
The family humbly request that memorials be made to Silverstreet Lutheran Church, 120 Long Street, Silverstreet, SC 29145.
