Janice Huffstetler Metts, 83, of Little Mountain, died November 10, 2018 at Lexington Medical Center.
Born in Chapin on November 28, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Harvey B. “Doc” and Aileen Amick Huffstetler. She retired from the Newberry County School District, having worked in the cafeteria at Little Mountain Elementary for 25 years. She was a member of Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church where she was also a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Mrs. Metts loved cooking, canning, gardening, and working with her flowers. She especially loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband of almost 63 years, Everett L. Metts; sons, Von (Khristie) Metts of Newberry, Bernie (Tammy) Metts of Little Mountain, and Melvin Metts of Little Mountain; a daughter, Janet (Glen) Holley of Easley; a sister, Cathryn Summer of Chapin; grandchildren, Erin (Neal) Willis, Hannah (Shannon Riley) Metts, Jacob(Jess) Holley, and Rachel Holley; step-grandchildren, Allen Sanders, Josh Sanders, and Jorden Sanders; great-grandchildren, Noah Mills, Mason Mills, and Lainey Holley; step-great-grandchildren, Cooper Willis, Elainah Sanders, and Kayden Sanders; and a special friend, Lib Summer.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church by the Rev. Steve Counts. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor Lutheran Church, Special Fund, 816 Mt. Tabor Road, Little Mountain, SC 29075.
Active pall bearers will be Neal Willis, Shannon Riley, Jacob Holley, Randy Frick, Rusty Thomas, and Glenn Huffstetler.
