Janie W. Partain, 94, of Newberry, died Friday, September 13, 2013, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on May 7, 1919, in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Hayne and Janie Vaughn Wilson. She worked for the Department of Agriculture (Farmers Home Administration) for 47 years. Mrs. Partain was a member of Aveleigh Fellowship of Presbyterians where she was a member of Circle I. She loved gardening, cooking, sewing and doing upholstery work.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Partain Turner and son-in-law, David (Len) Turner of Newberry; sisters, Estelle Harmon of Newberry, Bess Logue of Edgefield, and Sara Sudduth of Saluda, neighbors and special friends, Ann and Harold Folk and special “grandchildren” Olivia Senn Crank and Sierra Senn and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Partain was predeceased by her husband, Claude W. Partain, son, Tim W. Partain, sisters, Willie Mae Taylor, Catherine Parrish, Louise Summer and a brother, Hayne Wilson, Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 pm Sunday, September 15, 2013, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dr. Mitchell Van Metre. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2:30 – 3:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Active pallbearers will be Rep. Walt McLeod, Stuart Smith, Sheriff Lee Foster, Harold Folk, Gerald Dukes, Dr. Bob McCartha and Will Porter.
