Jean R. Koon

Mary Jean Ringer Koon, 81, of Prosperity, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on June 27, 1932 in Pomaria, she was a daughter of the late Elbert and Imogene Barrett Ringer. She was retired from the egg processing industry and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Koon is survived by her husband, Walter Edward “Bo” Koon, Sr., a son, Eddie (Susan) Koon of Prosperity; a sister, Dot Dowd of Gastonia, NC; a son-in-law, Russell Bedenbaugh of Prosperity; grandchildren, Jason (Kayla) Koon, Jennifer (Brian) Beck and Rick (Mindy) Hope; great-grandchildren, Lila Koon, Laila Koon and Karalie Beck. She was predeceased by a daughter, Tina Ringer Bedenbaugh.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, June 27, 2014 on her 82 ^nd birthday at Mcswain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Brent Nichols and the Rev. Randy Derrick. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital, 950 West Farris Street, Greenville, SC 29605.

Active pallbearers will be Hank Dowd, Jason Koon, Rick Hope, Brian Beck, Russell Bedenbaugh and Larry Dove.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Alan Paysinger, Dr. Mark Davis, Dr. Thomas Bradberry, the nursing staff and volunteers of NCMH.
