Jennie B. Mahaffey

Jennie Lind Bratton Mahaffey, 94, of Newberry, widow of Milton Andrew Mahaffey, died Sunday, March 13, 2016, at the Heritage at Lowman.

Born on October 3, 1921 in York County, she was a daughter of the late Elmer Ward and Ola Jane Montgomery Bratton. She was retired from the Newberry-Saluda Regional Library. Mrs. Mahaffey was a member of Central United Methodist Church and the ladies Circle 4.

She is survived by a daughter, Millie Mahaffey (Craig) Brandt; a sister-in-law, Bertha Mahaffey (Pete) McQuirt and three step-grandchildren. Mrs. Mahaffey was predeceased by her siblings, Robert Chess Bratton, Glenn Allison Bratton, Walter Erskine Bratton, Mack Wade Bratton, Eugene Franklin Bratton, Louise Bratton Johnson, Mattie Marie Bratton and Margaret Bratton Hartis.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 17, 2016, at Central United Methodist Church by the Rev. Karen Radcliffe. Burial will be at 3:00 pm at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
