Jeannine Ballentine “Jenny” Bedenbaugh, 85, of Prosperity, died Friday, November 28, 2014 at Providence Hospital.
Born on March 2, 1929 in Chapin, she was a daughter of the late William Arthur and Clara Cumalander Ballentine. She was a 1950 graduate of Winthrop College and was owner of Bedenbaugh Realty and Development Company. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was the current a member of the Newberry County Transportation Committee. She was a member of the Prosperity Literary Sorosis, and was made an lifetime honorary member in May of this year. Mrs. Bedenbaugh was a past president of the South Carolina Seedsmen Association and the Newberry County Business and Professional Women.
She is survived by her husband, Earle Joiner Bedenbaugh; daughters, Jean Bedenbaugh of Prosperity, Jan Blackwell and her husband, Larry of Lancaster, and Lisa Sulka and her husband, John of Bluffton; a son, Charles Bedenbaugh of Prosperity; a sister, Miriam Leaphart of Prosperity; grandchildren, Heather (Jim) Blackwell Storey, Brannon, Haley and Michael Sulka and Alex Bedenbaugh; sister-in-law, Bertha Ballentine Ariail; brother-in-law, David Bedenbaugh and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by grandsons, Matthew Blackwell and Will Bedenbaugh, a sister, Thelma Lee and brothers, Robert Ballentine and Furman Ballentine.
Funeral services will be held at Monday, December 1, 2014, at 1:00 pm at Grace Lutheran Church by the Rev. Michael Price. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00- 7:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
