Jerry Koon

Jerry Lee Koon, 55, of Prosperity, died December 17, 2011 at Abbeville Area Medical Center.

Born on August 11, 1956, in Columbia, he was a son of Margaret Simpson Koon and the late Clarence Robert Koon. He was a 1974 graduate of Mid-Carolina High School and a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. He was the owner of Koon Package Store and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Mr. Koon is survived by his mother of Prosperity; sons, Brandon H. (Elyse) Koon, and Brian K. (Lindsay) Koon both of Prosperity; sisters, Robbie Koon (Dan) DeFreese of Little Mountain; Vickie Koon (Jimmy) Zobel of Prosperity, Kristie Koon(Bill) Warner of Greenwood; brothers, Randy R. (Julie) Koon of Florence, twin brother, Terry L. (Wendi) Koon of Prosperity, and Barry S. (Fay) Koon of Prosperity; grandchildren, Halle B. Koon, Hayden B. Koon, and Dalton H. Koon, a good friend and employee, Donnie “Slick” Hawkins; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2011, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jason Schafer and the Rev. Henri Brandt. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall Fund, 4056 St. Luke’s Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Active pall bearers will be Robert Ringer, Donnie Hawkins, Paul Pitts, Todd Bedenbaugh, Bobby Shealy, Ladison Hamm, Kirksey Koon, and David Sanford.
