Jimmie Nell Overstreet Turner, 84, of Newberry, widow of Robert A. Turner, died August 4, 2021 at the Hospice House of the Piedmont in Greenwood.
Born on April 19, 1937 in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence “Lon” and Georgia Mae Lever Overstreet. She retired from the Kendall Company and was a member of Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a member on the Millie Hamby Sunday School Class. She loved her church and was willing to help out with anything that was needed. She also loved her dog, Rufus.
She is survived by sons, William Wilson Hendrix of Newberry, Richard Arthur (Glenda) Hendrix of Batesburg-Leesville, and Hassel Eugene (Marie) Hendrix of Newberry; a daughter Lisa Ann Roton of Newberry; sisters, Essie (Bright) Griffin of Pomaria and Lonette (Randy) Turner of Newberry; a nephew, Mitchell Hamm; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Polly Bundrick and by a great-grandchild.
Services will be conducted at 3:00PM Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jimmy Counts. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Those attending are asked to wear a mask and follow social distancing.
