Jimmy Zobel

James Oscar “Jimmy” Zobel, 61, of 1350 Stoney Hill Road, Prosperity, died Thursday, May 31, 2012 at his residence.

Born on November 17, 1950, in Newberry, he was a son of Margaret “Bobbie” Hollingsworth Zobel and the late James O. “Butch” Zobel. Jimmy was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. He retired from Wal-Mart and following retirement worked for Charles K. Doolittle, Inc.

In addition to his mother of Newberry he is survived by his wife, Vickie Koon Zobel; a brother, David Zobel of Quebec, Canada; his mother-in-law, Margaret S. Koon of Prosperity; brothers-in-law, Randy R. Koon (Julie), Terry L. Koon (Wendi), Barry S. Koon (Fay); sisters-in-law, Robbie Koon DeFreese (Dan), Kristie Koon Warner (Bill) and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, E. Kent Zobel a brother-in-law, Jerry L. Koon and his beloved grandmother, Ethel W. Hollingsworth.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 2, 2012, at St. Luke's Lutheran Church Cemetery by the Reverend Jason Schafer. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 pm Friday at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Lutheran Church Bus Fund, 4056 St. Luke's Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Active pallbearers will be Randy R. Koon, Terry L. Koon, Barry S. Koon, F. Dan DeFreese, William “Bill” R. Warner, Rodney S. Giffin and Chesley Minick.
