Joan Morris

Joan Martin Morris, 77, of Newberry, widow of Herbert Larry Morris, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at White Oak Manor.

Born on March 15, 1947, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Vernon and Lila Pitts Martin. She loved children and loved her years working as a teacher assistant with the Newberry County Public Schools from which she retired. Joan was a lifelong faithful member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she served in all the functions of the church to the best of her ability. She loved to sing and enjoyed many years singing in the church choir.

Her time on the farm was special to her as she enjoyed tending to her chickens which were her pets. She always shared eggs with family and friends. Watching things grow was important to her as well as she found joy in working in her flowers.

Antique stores were a pleasure to her as she was able to be reminded of the good ole days which carried precious memories. 

She loved to travel and explored many destinations in her lifetime.

Most important to her was family which she was always bragging upon. She enjoyed watching her children grow up as well as her grandchildren.

Her best friend was her identical twin, Jane. They shared a life as one, always dressing alike, shopping together, eating breakfast together and sharing so much together that only twins would know.

Her loving family consist of sons, Kenneth (Angela) Morris of Seneca, Stephen (Heather) Morris of Newberry and David (Michelle) Morris of Little Mountain; sisters, Jane (Robert) Pollard of Newberry and Kathy (Hobson) Busby of Lugoff-Elgin; grandchildren, Andrew Morris, Benjamin Morris, Caroline Morris, Elizabeth Tollinson, Bennett Tollinson, Sebastian Morris and Steven English; special friend, John Pollard of Newberry.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, February 23, 2025, at Trinity United Methodist Church by the Rev. Myra Taylor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.
